We need to start a new family tradition and begin teaching our daughter about the three step plan and breast self exams.  We need to stay informed on the latest recommendation of the leading health organizations and pass that information from generation to generation, both up and down the family tree.  Take the time to ask your older family members and friends, “Are you taking Breast Care of Yourself”?  Then, give them the tools to get started.
     There seems to be a universal misunderstanding that every woman knows how to perform effective breast self exams.  Techniques (unfortunately) are not being taught in public schools.  Some women learn bits and pieces from pamphlets, magazine articles, books and/or seminars.  A lucky few learn from their health care professional.
