 I received the BreastMapping”® System as a product to review for the journal Alternative Therapies in Clinical Practice. Although the product is not an alternative ‘therapy’, it is an alternative to the traditional breast self exams women are instructed to perform. I reviewed the product and wrote an article on its use and background. Needless to say, I was impressed. I feel that now, from reading the accompanying materials and using the chart, I have a thorough understanding of breast health. Because I am 23 years old, physicians typically ask me only if I perform BSE’s. Physicians often don't spend time discussing what to look for, such as irregularities, when to be concerned, etc. I had assumed the focus on breast health would change as I became older but I think I am mistaken. BreastMapping”® pointed out just how serious and potentially fatal breast cancer is. The instructions are easy to follow and I feel like I have more control over my own health. Most important, I can easily and correctly point out to my physician any areas of concern because I will already have “mapped” the location. I think BreastMapping”® is truly a remarkable health care product. And it is the first product I have ever been exposed to that actually taught me about breast health. Shower cards simply aren't enough to be well informed. The simplicity of the system is that any woman, regardless of age, can use the product; and young women need the same care as older women -- I have heard many stories of young women with breast cancer.
