When you forwarded a copy of the newspaper article, written by Debbie Blechinger, which appeared in the Basin News titled, “Local Woman Saves Lives With New Product” my interest in writings related to breast cancer was at a high level. It was in July of 1997 that my second eldest daughter, an Air Force wife, had been diagnosed by a doctor at the Air force Academy, as having breast cancer, had undergone a mastectomy; the removal of 18 lymph nodes; chemotherapy and radiation treatments and a divorce. Her husband of 14 years “could not handle her illness”. The cancer had developed over several years and apparently misdiagnosed several times. I also had the opportunity to review the “Breast Mapping” kit and discussed its application with my daughter and others who have had to deal with the traumatic events resulting from breast cancer. If only this tool had been available to military wives and women in unifonn throughout the services. Early detection and treatment would be facilitated. I sincerely hope that you will continue with your efforts to gain support of organizations, foundations and government entities, but above all I hope you will get the attention of those most at risk.
